Production Assistant — Lauren HB Studio

Location: Lakewood, Ohio (The Screw Factory) Hours: Part-time, ~24 hrs/week (3 days/week, core days set with you) Pay: $16/hour, with an approx. 3% annual increase

About the Studio

Lauren HB Studio creates one-of-a-kind wall sculptures, installations, and commissions for residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces. We work concept-led, across porcelain, clay, metal, textiles, and wood — out of a working studio in Lakewood's historic Screw Factory building, alongside a community of other artists.

The Role

We're looking for a Production Assistant to help bring sculptural work from raw material to finished, installation-ready work. You'll be doing hands-on fabrication, glazing, and install prep — often detail-oriented, sometimes repetitive, always craft-focused work.

A typical week might include:

  • Fabricating individual sculpture components (extruded tubes, cast or hand-built parts — some pieces need 100–1000+ repeated units)
  • Assembling sculpture parts after kiln firing
  • Prepping and glazing bisque-fired pieces
  • Mixing and testing glazes, keeping studio glazes topped off
  • Loading/unloading kilns and keeping the glaze and fabrication areas clean and safe
  • Helping prep for wall-piece installations, on- and off-site
  • Supporting slip casting production and packing/shipping finished work
  • Weekly studio cleaning

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability and craft working with your hands
  • Familiarity with art materials — porcelain, clay, metal, textiles, and/or wood
  • Comfort with detail-oriented, sometimes meditative fabrication work
  • Ability to work independently, with good judgment about when to ask for help
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical demands: standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs. (moving heavier items routinely), pushing/pulling carts up to 250 lbs., and general studio activity (bending, reaching, climbing).
